Design Festival in Kazakhstan
I recently took part in the COW International Design Festival in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Design in the Center of the World
The COW Festival was a global forum that showcases world-class design.
They invited me to feature some of the artworks I have done as an illustrator and an artist.
I chose this opportunity to display the magazine cover I have done for the cover of Babyboss magazine in Indonesia.
Babyboss is probably the coolest design publication from Indonesia. It is the leading magazine when it comes to cover the new generation of international artists and inspiring designers from around the globe.
More about COW.
Where is Astana?
Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan.
The place is also the country’s second largest city. The former soviet city is now booming economically, using oil money to build some os the world’s biggest buildings and galleries.
While Astana is mostly known as a political center, it has a lot of museum and art galleries.
COW Design Festival was a nice opportunity to showcase artworks done by international artists in the Kazakhs land.
What happened during the festival?
COW did not only showcase the work of international designers.
The art event presented various conferences with artists and designers who talked about various topics such as “copyright” or social issues. Attendees were also invited to follow a series of workshops hosted by Russian and Ukrainian artists.
I was not able to make it to Kazakhstan for the art show since I was talking at a conference in Indonesia at the time.
Look at the pictures from the conference I did in Jakarta.
