I Inspire You Expire is an artwork I produced in a limited edition of 75 screen-prints.
I Inspire You Expire
I Inspire You Expire is the name of this screen print.
I did the artwork for Sergeant Paper gallery in Paris.
The gallery also hosted the my 2011 and 2012 solo exhibitions.
What is the story behind this artwork?
For this poster I paid tribute to traditional tattoo sets.
One day a gallery from Paris contacted me to ask if I wanted to take part in the opening of their new art space. Issue gallery was about to become Sergeant Paper. To celebrate the launch they ask several artist to produce a new artwork printed in limited-edition.
I liked the idea and start to draw the artwork. I then printed the drawing in a one-color screen print. Sergeant Paper gallery sold the result in their art gallery in Paris.
Detail of the artwork depicting a bondage iconic character.
What was the design challenge for this poster?
Every time I work on a new exhibition I face new design challenges.
For this artwork the challenge was to produce a catchy visual by using only few color. When you use silk screens, every color adds an extra cost to the total price. The idea is to achieve an outstanding result for a reasonable cost.
I printed the final artwork on art paper. The size os the poster is 50 x 70 cm, which is a standard size, easy to frame.
Sergeant Paper sold the 75 prints of the artwork. I numbered and signed every print.
I hope that you will enjoy the result…
