WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE ART SHOW?

THE 500+ HANDMADE TYPES are inspired by everything from graffiti to sign painting to psychedelic art.
I Just Murdered The Alphabet pays tribute to hip-hop culture, with 102 meaningful rap punchlines drawn in a slick style.
The series also introduces an imaginary tribe I call La Société Des Griffeurs.

hip-hop punchlines

All the artworks combine hip-hop punchlines and character design

WHAT IS LA SOCIETE DES GRIFFEURS?

LA SOCIETE DES GRIFFEURS is a group of teenagers born and raised in the Parisian suburbs.
After traveling to Borneo in Indonesia, they build a secret community based on freedom and animatistic instincts.
They find philosophical values in hip-hop culture. (To be continued…)

Mega T-shirt
Sergeant Paper released a special Mega t-shirt for the show.

BEYOND I JUST MURDERED THE ALPHABET

This exhibition was part of a week of art events.
After the solo art exhibition, I did a Mega party at the Favela Chic Club, I launched l’Attrape Rêve by Mega, and did a signature session at the prestigious contemporary art center Palais De Tokyo.
For more information you can read some press articles about my art series.

Eminem punchline

The title of the exhibition comes from one of the artwork. Eminem infamous punchline “I just murdered the alphabet” was the inspiration for this title.

What do you mean by “Mega Week”?

The Mega Week was a series of art events I did in Paris in October 2012.
Here is a quick reminder of what happened:

3 PLACES, 3 EVENTS:

  1. Saturday, October 6th, Launch of my solo exhibition.
Starting from 6pm at Sergeant Paper gallery, 38 rue Quincampoix, Paris.

During the Parisian White Night, we invited people to come and attend the opening of my new exhibition I Just Murdered The Alphabet. We also launched L’Attrape Rêve Issue # 5, an art publication with myself as the guest artist.
For l’Attrape Reve I did a new drawing called “Never Fight Fair With A Stranger”. The artwork is a 8,5 meters artwork displayed on more than 40 pages.
The publication also featured works and interviews with talents like Jeremyville, Les Nanas De Panames, and much more.

  2. Tuesday, October 9th – Exhibition, live painting and DJ sets.
From 7pm to 2 am at La Favela Chic, 18 rue du Faubourg du Temple, Paris 11.

From 7 to 10pm, party animals were invited to join us at the Favela Chic gallery to attend my live painting session sponsored by Posca.
A small collection of my artworks were also presented during the night.
At 10pm, let’s start the party!
I have invited my talented friends for what was an unforgettable (well, depending on what you drank) night.
    – Gero (multiple French DMC champion)
    – Gee Da Pimp (Clark magazine founder)
    – Saint Pierre (Auguste shop owner) will rock your night.

  3. Wednesday, October 10th – Signature session.
From 7pm at the Palais de Tokyo, 13 avenue du Président Wilson, Paris 16.

People came to meet me at the Palais de Tokyo, and get their copy of l’Attrape Rêve signed.
The Palais De Tokyo is probably the biggest contemporary art center in Paris, so it was really a Mega week.

The Mega week was officially launched during this amazing night!
Despite the heavy rain, the night was great.
Tons of people, lots of good vibes, and too much beers made this art night a great night.

exhibition launch

The art publication L’Attrape Reve also launched their “Special Mega” issue, with 40 pages of exclusive artworks.
Next step was a big party in the trendy Parisian club La Favela Chic.
I did a live drawing and my friends Gero (DMC champion), Gee Da Pimp (founder of Clark magazine), and Saint Pierre (co-owner of Auguste shop) took care of the music.
