Opening of my exhibition in Kuala Lumpur
Check the pictures of the opening night of my touring exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.
Exhibition at Stussy
I did my exhibition in the only Stussy flagship store in South-East Asia.
After leaving the plane I join my man from Motorsport Playground.
Remus aka Supremus aka The Magician is a champion of the local racing scene. He is also a true friend.
During this art week I’ve spent most of my days and night working on a GTR customization, with the full support of Motorsport Playground. Together we build a racing car I have designed and that was later displayed in the front of Stüssy where my next show took place.
I make two breaks, just long enough to give two lectures at two Design universities.
“Any questions?
Are you single?
Uh … Yes”
Don’t believe the hype
A TV interview, two press interviews, and about 2000 pictures later I’m pretty tired but life is short and we join Joe Flizzow. We go to the Roots, a big big big club where he manages the party with his label crew. The guy is a local hip-hop superstar and also a very cool guy. He invites us into the VIP section where we find as many bottles as groupies. The game is to clear some and fill the others.
Shawn Lee
But who is this 19 years old kid? His name is Shawn Lee and he happens to be the Malaysian beat boxing champion, and one of the world finest in the game. Beware of side effects such as ears bleeding and jaw dropping. The kid is cool and we have some collaboration projects coming in a near future. Stay tuned.
Back to Bali
A final photo session in the jungle and it’s time to go back to Bali where I got a lecture at the Design University. Go hard and go home. Once again a good opportunity to meet the kids and to clarify certain things. Shut up and work. There are no secrets. Illustration is my life. I wake up, draw, get a lunch, draw, eat, draw more and sleep. This is my life seven days a week, all year long. No time for TV, no room for gossips, no right to complain, no chick (singular). Wanna try? Give me a deadline for next month and you’ll find the job done in your mailbox next morning with a better quality than expected. Hustlin ‘hard. A few years ago people did not understand how a guy like Lil Wayne could produce this amount of tracks while staying fresh. I started my “career” by collecting trashes. I’m from the streets. No jokes. No marketing trick. At 18 my future was to collect the shit from my city. No money, no network, no help. Now I’m the guy who made his passion his life. Don’t tell me about luck. I’m here. I’ll keep hustling every day until people start calling me the “best drawer alive”. For now I go back to work. Stay humble and eat chili.
Conference at Bali Design New Media University
Just after my solo exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, I have been invited for a conference in Bali.
I didn’t have any time to take a rest, and straight after my art show in Malaysia, I took a plane back to Indonesia.
Alongside with some of the students, the teachers from the graphic design university have asked me to come to supervise a graphic workshop.
It was a lot of fun. I started my day with a conference in the front of the students.
Then inspired by the talk they produced some artworks based on one of my own drawing.
The results were really good, and I gave a second speech to comment on their artworks.
The Bali Post came to do a report on the event while the teachers granted me with a certificate.
I knew I was cool, but it’s now certified… hehe.
